The School of Journalism and Mass Communication has been awarded a prestigious research project funded by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) titled
“Bridging Indigenous Healing Systems and Communication Ecologies: A Study of Sickle Cell Awareness among the Baiga PVTG of Madhya Pradesh.”
The project explores the intersection of indigenous healing practices, communication ecologies, and public health awareness among the Baiga, a Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG) in Madhya Pradesh. It seeks to examine how traditional knowledge systems, community communication networks, and cultural beliefs influence awareness, perceptions, and management of sickle cell disease. By adopting an interdisciplinary and community-based research approach, the study aims to generate evidence-based recommendations for culturally responsive health communication strategies while contributing to the preservation of indigenous knowledge and the advancement of inclusive public health policies. The project reflects the School's commitment to impactful social science research, community engagement, and addressing the developmental needs of marginalized communities.

Prayog is the monthly student journal of the School of Journalism and Mass Communication that provides a dynamic platform for students to showcase their journalistic talent, creativity, and critical perspectives.
Curated and edited by students under the guidance of faculty, the journal features news reports, feature stories, interviews, opinion pieces, photo essays, and articles on contemporary media and social issues. Prayog promotes experiential learning by encouraging students to apply classroom knowledge in real-world journalistic practice while fostering ethical reporting, analytical thinking, and effective communication.
